first_imgJob Duties ContinueDevelops and implements yearly risk assessments and complianceaudit activities and integrated strategies for communication ofexpectations and reporting results are the key functions of thisposition and include development of Board-level reporting.Develops and communicates the multi-year strategies andobjectives of the Compliance Program and reportaccomplishments.Coordinates with Academics, Research and other departmentalleadership in development and implementation of internal complianceprogram review and risk assessment processes, monitoring andauditing plans, corrective action plans and/or improvementactivities.Provides leadership to address regulatory complaints andconcerns from internal or external parties, direct and coordinatenecessary investigation, and/or corrective action plans withvarious departments or agencies and communicate progress toleadership.Implements and manages the Corporate Compliance Hotline.Develops policies and programs that encourage faculty, staff andlearners to report concerns without fear of retaliation.Oversees the review, update, and development of all compliancepolicies and procedures for adoption by the Board ofDirectors.Develops and implements an annual compliance work plan which isreflective of the significant compliance risks of the organizationand the regulatory environment under the direction of the ChiefCompliance Officer.At the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer, prepares forand participates in the Clinical Compliance Committee, ExecutiveCompliance Committee and Audit, Compliance and Risk ManagementCommittee of the Board to ensure appropriate and necessaryactivities/issues are reported.Oversees the implementation and administration of processesdesigned to maintain compliance with Federal and State laws relatedto privacy, security, confidentiality, protection of informationresources and health care information.Oversees the sanction screening program Preferred QualificationsJuris Doctorate (JD).CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance) or CHPC (Certified inHealthcare Privacy Compliance). Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree.Ten years of relevant experience. Primary oversight of billingcompliance and HIPAA privacy programs at the Houston and SanAntonio campuses.Manages institutional compliance activities for the College. Hasprimary oversight of billing compliance and HIPAA privacy programs.Provides written compliance guidance to departments. Preparesannual report on institutional compliance activities to the BCMBoard of Directors. Prepares annual compliance work plans forreview and approval of BCM Board of Directors. At the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer,provides regular updates to executives, governance sub-committeesto review progress on program implementation and corrective actionplans.Oversees the compliance training function and directs thedevelopment and implementation of annual strategic compliancetraining plans and programs targeted at current regulatoryenvironment.Serves as the institutional Privacy Officer. Responsible foroversight and direction of the BCM HIPAA privacy program.Oversees the overall general compliance activities, including,but not limited to Disclosure of Outside Interests, InstitutionalHotline and Sanction Checks. Directs staff to meet institutionalcompliance standards and goals. Coordinates with designatedfunctional compliance liaisons and receives regular reports andstatus updates.Collects regulatory and compliance information and disseminatesinformation to management and staff as required. Oversees theactivities of staff in the corporate compliance group.Directs the development and monitoring of Standards of Conductas it relates to policies, procedures, and regulations.Develops and implements internal monitoring and auditing plans,strategies to assess current state of organizational operations andprocesses, and to ensure compliance with regulatory standards,legislation, regulation, and internal policy related toaccreditation, licensure, billing compliance, privacy and internaloperations.Manages and oversees HIPAA Privacy program activities,including investigations, education and monitoring activities.
