Advancers Bracket – SemifinalNo. 1 Vanderbilt vs. No. 2 Sam Houston StateSam Houston State’s Madysen Keller provided the heroics for the Bearkats in the opening round traditional match against top-seeded Vanderbilt. Keller’s 223 led the Bearkats to an eight-pin victory over the Commodores that finished at a 928-920.The Baker matchup proved just as competitive between the Vanderbilt and Sam Houston State teams as the Bearkats sealed their victory with a 967-955 advantage. Vanderbilt held a three-pin advantage heading into the fourth slot of the total pinfall matchup. However, Sam Houston State came screaming back in the final two slots, outscoring the Commodores by 28 pins to cement their semifinal victory.   Elimination Bracket – Second RoundNo. 3 Arkansas State vs. No. 7 Louisiana TechArkansas State rebounded in a big way from their round two loss against Sam Houston State Friday afternoon with a two-game sweep in their elimination match against Louisiana Tech. Arkansas State was led by a trio of bowlers who registered scores above 200. Taylor Davis paved the way for the Red Wolves in the traditional match with a 205.The Lady Techsters stormed back in the baker total pinfall nabbing a match high 208 in the number three spot. However, Arkansas State sealed the match in the fourth and fifth spots scoring a 189 and a 165, respectively, and ultimately defeated Louisiana Tech 2-0.The Red Wolves squad outscored Louisiana Tech 948-795 in the traditional format matchup and 916-911 in the Baker contest.No. 4 Stephen F. Austin vs. No. 5 TulaneStephen F. Austin opened their day with a 27-pin victory over Tulane in the traditional matchup, where Carlene Beyer led the Ladyjacks with a 205 performance. The Green Wave was unable to overcome SFA despite a game-high 215 from Crystal Singh and a 211 outing from Tiera Gulum.After escaping the Match 10 opening round, the Ladyjacks advanced to the semifinals with a 1,012-952 Baker Series victory over Tulane. Austin exploded with a 256 in the team’s fourth-spot before concluding the matchup with a 203 in the final position.The pair of victories by the Red Wolves and the Ladyjacks sealed a pair of semifinal rounds that featured the tournament’s top-four seeded teams.center_img DALLAS, Texas – No. 2 seed Sam Houston State concluded their second day of play with their third consecutive win of the 2019 Southland Bowling Championship, defeating No. 1 Vanderbilt 2-0 to advance to the title contest. No. 4 Stephen F. Austin concluded the day with a 2-0 record, vaulting SFA to an elimination showdown Sunday morning at 8 a.m. CT against Vandy. The winner of the Commodores and the Ladyjacks will improve to the championship match against the Bearkats in a must-win situation for either squad.Sunday’s championship contest will be held at 11 a.m. at USA Bowl and will stand as the 14th match of the tournament. Should Sam Houston State win match 14, the Bearkats will become the 2019 Southland Bowling League Tournament champions.
